Uncertain T hobby shop contest

Have a question for the old timers..When Monogram issued the Uncertain T in the 60's, did they sponsor a hobby shop promotion for a " Uncertain T " only contest.??.( or did my local hobby shop do it on their own ). I was wondering because I found a 2nd place ribbon signifying such a contest took place.....Thanks
