This is an AMT '57 Fairlane I got already built online. It was once blue and white, but the paint had had better days. My first idea was to take it apart and use the parts as spares, since I have manu '57 Ford kits, and love the car.
I ended changing my mind, and decided to build it as a '60s custom, but nothing radical, no chop, or radical body mods, just a slight customization with a new paint, interior and lowered suspension, but keeping the original motor.
The body was stripped, then the nameplates were removed as was the hood ornament.
After that, I painted the car in silver, and gave a cople of coats of Tamiya Mica Red folowed by a couple of coats of Tamiya Pearl Clear.
Inside, I painted the interior flat white, aded a console and front bucket seats. I used pre flocked paper to do the "red wine" colored sections.
The engine, tranny and rear end were painted gold, and for the final touch, I used some pinstriping decals from my parts box (for coicidence, those are parts of a '57 Ford kit also).
Thanks for looking!!
